The objective of this research was to explore the direct effect of employability and job characteristics on contextual performance of vocational high school principals mediating by organizational commitment. This research used some quantitative approach with survey method. The samples of this research included 216 principals selected randomly. The data were obtained by spreading questionnaires and analyzed with path analysis by supporting descriptive statistics. The results confirm that employability, job characteristics, and organizational commitment had significant direct effects on contextual performance; employability and job characteristics had significant direct effects on organizational commitment; employability and job characteristics had significant indirect effects on contextual performance mediating by organizational commitment. Therefore, a fit research model found about the effect of employability and job characteristics on contextual performance mediating by organizational commitment. This model can be used as a reference by researchers and practitioners in developing models of contextual performance in the future.

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of training and job promotion on work motiva-tion and their implications on employee job performance. The study is accomplished in the Environment of the South Lampung Regency National Education Office on 215 respondents. The research design uses a quantitative survey method and data analysis is based on the structural equation model (SEM) with Amos 24. The results of the study show that (a) training and promotion had a positive and significant effect on work motivation, (b) training, promo-tion and work motivation had a positive and significant effect on job performance but (c) work motivation did not play any significant role in mediating the effect of training and job promotion for job performance. While job promotion had a more dominant direct effect than training in improving employee job performance, efforts to improve employee job performance will be more productive by providing job promotions to employees. Another effort is to provide opportunities for employees to attend training regularly. With job promotion and training, work motivation will increase, and the impact is that employee job performance will increase.

The industrialisation and urbanisation have made goods affordable and quickly to obtain. These create hyper-consumption where we use to buy more than what we need, and so fast discard the things that we buy. Access-based consumption is a trend that gains more popularity in today’s society, in which consumer can have access to new and various items without having to own them. One of the access-based consumption is renting, and this concept has been applied in many sectors such as fashion, property and recently it has been applied in items for children since more Millennials are living in limited space and they need to choose which product to own. The study aims to investigate the relationship between perceived risk, frugal shopping, perceived enjoyment and attitude toward renting items for children. The online questionnaire was administered to 100 participants. The results show that psychological risk affects attitude negatively, perceived enjoyment influences on attitude positively, and frugal shopping has some impact on perceived enjoyment and attitude positively. Marketing strategies are suggested for renting business owners by embracing the enjoyment feeling from renting. It is important to promote the benefit of getting new items regularly without having to buy them more often and the benefit of playing and using items beyond their usual shopping budget.

The research explores the direct and indirect effects of reward, personality and job satisfaction on teacher’s organizational commitment in Public Vocational High Schools in Bogor City, West Java, Indonesia. Data for this study was collected quantitatively through a survey, in-volving a proportionate randomly selected sample of 154 teachers, by using a questionnaire. Path analysis supported by descriptive statistics was employed to analyze the data. The results confirm that reward, personality and job satisfaction had significant direct effects on organizational commitment; reward and personality had significant direct effect on job satisfaction; reward and personality had significant indirect effects on organizational commitment by me-diating job satisfaction. Therefore, a fit research model found about the effect of reward and personality on organizational commitment by mediating job satisfaction with research settings on vocational high school in Indonesia. This model cannot only be used as a reference by researchers and practitioners in developing models of organizational commitment that are in accordance with their respective conditions, but can also be further developed and expanded into studies and projects to develop organizational commitment which is more complex and comprehensive by adding variables and other relevant dimensions.

The purpose of this study is to know the effect of entrepreneurship attitude of manager of cooperatives and member motivation in enhancing member participation in North Sumatera Province, Indonesia. A questionnaire with a 1-5 Likert’s scale is used to examine the hypothe-ses of the survey. Respondents consisted of 100 leader/managers and 100 members of the cooperatives. The results show that entrepreneurship attitude of manager and member motivations correlated significantly in increasing the participation of cooperative members with r1 = 0.866** and r2 = 0.902**, respectively. Likewise, entrepreneurship attitude of manager and member motivation had significant effects on increasing member participation. It is also found that R-Square = 0.836, and F-value was 247.430. In conclusion, the independent variable significantly correlated and increased participation of the members. It is very important to insert entrepreneurship attitude and motivation in providing cooperative education.

This study aims to depict the halal tourism concept, its business process, and investigate dilemmas faced by tourism industry and proposes strategies to resolve the constraints based on the best practice from the tourism business operators. In addition, this study tries to investigate the influence of various factors on halal tourism. Triangulation method used by combining personal in-depth interview, documentation/literature review and field observation to generate the discussion and conclusion. Interview process was conducted by selecting four tourism operators in Indonesia who won the best halal category award by The World Halal Travel Award in Dubai. Additionally, for the empirical analysis, a questionnaire was also developed, and data was collected from a total sample of 313 Muslim tourists in the region of Indonesia. Study reveals that instead of taking position as pure sharia-compliant business, all participants chose to become Muslim-friendly business. This moderate business process transformation helps to expand their market segment to Muslim tourists at tolerable cost. The existing dilemmas faced by all entities in tourism industry are as follows: there is no formal standard of halal criteria, high-cost business transition, lack of sharia-competent human resources and lack of promotion. Besides, findings through regression analysis specifies that there is a significant and positive influence of quality and certification of halal food, male serving in the restaurants, halal activities and separate recreational facilities on halal tourism industry. The study was engaged with the best practices from halal business operators. Further research is suggested to involve tourists’ perception of halal-related product, management, human resource and finance operated by the halal business operators. Meanwhile, this study has considered a limited number of factors influencing on the halal tourism with traditional analysis approach.

This research aims to study and analyze the effects of human resource flexibility, employee competencies, organizational culture adaptation, and job satisfaction on employee performance. The study also examines the indirect effect between human resource flexibility and employee performance with the mediation of organizational culture adaptation and the effect of competence on employee performance through job satisfaction as a mediator variable. Us-ing certain criteria, 105 employees of PT Pos Indonesia were selected as the sample. SEM-PLS was used to test the hypotheses. The study finds that human resource flexibility, employee competencies, and job satisfaction significantly influenced employee performance, but organizational culture adaptation did not have any significant effect on employee performance. Therefore, organizational culture adaptation was unable to mediate the effect of human re-source flexibility on employee performance. However, job satisfaction partially mediates the effect of employee competencies on employee performance.

The emergence of New Public Management (NPM) phenomenon creates a new discourse that attracts the attention of human resource management experts around the world, especially in Indonesia. To address this issue, this study tries to focus on how the performance of local government employees is influenced by several factors; namely, intelligence, leadership, quality of human resources, and NPM itself. The population of this study is government employees in the city of Makassar, Indonesia, and given the huge number, the sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The amount determined referred to the variance-based (or Partial Least Square) Structural Equation Analysis tool and obtained by 100 local government employees. Primary data collected through a questionnaire is processed with the assistant of Smart PLS. The results show that intelligence, leadership, and HR quality had positive and significant ef-fects on NPM. The direct relationship also indicates the significance of constructs on performance, except intelligence, which directly has no significant impact on the performance of government employees. The NPM variable also significantly mediates the indirect effect between variables. This research is expected to enrich the treasury of knowledge in the field of human resource studies, and strategies for implementing the concept of NPM in the government environment.

This study investigates the aspects of e-payment security concerning e-commerce consumers’ purchase intentions. This study further involves college students in Semarang – Indonesia as representatives of the millennial generation. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using Wrap-PLS is employed to analyze the data. The findings show a fit model to explain e-commerce customers’ purchase intentions. The results of this study reveal a better mediating effect of perceived usefulness on e-payment security and customers’ purchase intentions. Perceived ease of use also has a significant indirect effect, through e-payment security, on e-commerce customers’ purchase intentions. In addition, understanding the ease and usability of the security aspects of the payment affects e-commerce consumers' purchase intentions. The results also give a heightened awareness of security in electronic transactions.

This paper offers an empirical study of the role of work motivation in mediating the effect of education-training and leadership style on the performance of Ministry of Education employees in Timor-Leste. Data were obtained from 86 employees as samples through questionnaires. We applied the SEM-PLS to analyze the proposed relationship model. Empirical results show that work motivation mediated the influence of leadership style on employee performance, but not for education-training. The results can provide valuable insight for public service management.
