One of the primary concerns for investment in oil and gas projects is to have a comprehensive understanding on different issues associated with this industry. The industry is mainly influ-enced by the price of oil and gas and in some events, many production units have been forced to shut down solely because of low price of oil and gas. Environmental issues are other important factors, which may put pressure on Canada’s political affairs since the country has strong com-mitment to reduce green gas effect. In this paper, we introduce a multi-criteria decision making method, which helps us rank different projects in terms of investment. The proposed study con-siders different investment factors including net present value, rate of return, benefit-cost analy-sis and payback period along with the intensity of green gas effects for ranking the present oil and gas projects in Canada.

Graphical evaluation and review techniques (GERT) is a technique to study the stochastic nature of networks consists of different branches. In GERT, all branches are explained in terms of the probability that the branch is traversed and the tile to traverse the branch in case it is realized. This paper presents recent advances of the implementation of GERT in various industries. The study presents a comprehensive description of GERT and recent advances on the implementation of GERT in various industries over the period 2002-2017.

Ranking fuzzy numbers is one of the most important phases in any decision making process in fuzzy environments. In most cases, we deal with fuzzy numbers in the field of evaluating alternatives with fuzzy information or linguistic variables. This paper investigates ranking fuzzy numbers using the concept of preference ratio, introduces the weakness of this method, and proposes a new approach that overcomes the shortcoming of existing method. The proposed approach which is based on the concept of utility function takes the opinion of DM for ranking fuzzy numbers into account.

Project selection is considered as the first essential part of project portfolio management. Project selection is also considered as a process to evaluate each project idea and chooses the one with the biggest priority. Project selection plays an essential role in the entire life cycle of different projects. This paper presents a survey for project selection using multiple criteria decision mak-ing techniques. The study considers 60 papers from over the period 1980-2017. The results of the survey have indicated that integration of Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and analytical hierarchy process/analytical network process was the most popular techniques for project selection followed by VIKOR method.

This paper presents two models, a periodic review model and a continuous review inventory model with fuzzy setup cost, holding cost and shortage cost. We use two methods in the name of signed distance and possibilistic mean value to defuzzify. Also we consider the lead time demand and the lead-time plus one period’s demand as random variables. To validate the models and the solution procedures we apply them to a transformer manufacturing, 'Iran transfo', company. Furthermore we design a decision support system which can be used for efficient evaluation of the proposed models in fuzzy environment.

A good facility layout plays an important role on increasing the profitability of a production unit. A good location needs to meet different criteria such as the distance between the plants and the places to reach raw materials, customers, etc. In this paper, we proposed a multi criteria decision making problem to locate a suitable dairy plant. We assume that all factors influencing the plant involves uncertainty and proposed fuzzy numbers to handle the uncertainty associated with all input parameters. We apply the method for a real-world case study of dairy production unit and analyze the results of our proposed model.

Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the most popular approaches in the area of multiple attribute decision making (MADM). However, it is not practical any more if input information are fuzzy. In this paper, we propose a new method for fuzzy AHP which is especially useful to make decisions for multiple attribute problems. The method is developed by applying preference ratio concept which makes it practical since it assigns crisp weights and crisp scores to different alternatives. Two algorithms are proposed in this paper: The first one defines crisp and normalized weight by pairwise comparison with fuzzy data while the second one calculates fuzzy consistency ratio. The proposed method is applied to prioritize different short courses in a management school.

During the past two years, Canadian economy was on hold since there were many businesses closed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Many business owners decided to ask their employees to work from their homes and working in distance created some troubles for many clients. Businesses asked Canada post to deliver their orders. As a result, Canada post was met with huge orders where most of them were delivered late. It is estimated that supply chain disruption has hurt Canadian economy, significantly. This paper surveys the effects of supply chain disruption on Canadian economy.
