Abstract:

In this paper, the problem of lot sizing for the case of a single item is considered along with supplier selection in a two-stage supply chain. The suppliers are able to offer quantity discounts, which can be either all-unit or incremental discount policies. A mathematical modeling formulation for the proposed problem is presented and a dynamic programming methodology is provided to solve it. Computational experiments are performed in order to examine the accuracy and the performance of the proposed method in terms of running time. The preliminary results indicate that the proposed algorithm is capable of providing optimal solutions within low computational times, high accuracy solutions.

Abstract:

During the past few years, there have been increasing trend on building appropriate model for supplier selection and a good supplier, indeed, is capable of providing better quality products, which could lead to increase the productivity of an organization. In this paper, we present an empirical investigation to find the effect of monitoring three different standards, namely, domestic, national and international standard on improving the quality of products in water and sewage projects. The proposed model of this paper designs a questionnaire and distributes it among some experts in a rural Water & Sewage firm located in city of Ahvaz, Iran. Using the Pearson correlation ratio, the study examines three hypotheses of the survey and the results indicate that there were poor relationship between carefully considering domestic, national and international standards and improvement on quality of products offered by various suppliers. In addition, job experience and type of employment also do not seem to have any meaningful effect on quality assessment of suppliers.

Abstract:

In supply chain management, supplier performance is evaluated based on several criteria. In this paper, a fuzzy multi-objective mathematical programming model is presented to consider different qualitative and quantitative factors to choose appropriate suppliers and the optimal order quantity allocated to them. The proposed study uses analytical hierarchy process to rank different suppliers and a fuzzy multi-objective mathematical programming is presented to choose the best suppliers. The study uses NSGAII to solve the resulted problem and the model is analysed using some sample results under various circumstances. The study considers different Pareto solution set obtained by TOPSIS ranking algorithm, and eventually determines the best possible solutions.

Abstract:

Selection of one or a combination of the most suitable potential providers and outsourcing problem is the most important strategies in logistics and supply chain management. In this paper, selection of an optimal combination of suppliers in inventory and supply chain management are studied and analyzed via multiple attribute decision making approach, data mining and evolutionary optimization algorithms. For supplier selection in supply chain, hierarchical clustering according to the studied indexes first clusters suppliers. Then, according to its cluster, each supplier is evaluated through Grey Relational Analysis. Then the combination of suppliers’ Pareto optimal rank and costs are obtained using Artificial Bee Colony meta-heuristic algorithm. A case study is conducted for a better description of a new algorithm to select a multiple source of suppliers.

Abstract:

Minimizing the total cost is absolutely the goal of each supply chain, which is most of the time pursued. In this regards, quality related costs that have significant roles are sometimes neglected. Selecting suppliers, which supply relatively high quality raw materials in a lower cost is considered as a strategic decision. Make or Buy decision can be also noticed in supplier selection process. In this paper, the supply strategy: Make or Buy decision (SS: MOB) is studied in order to find which strategy (Make or Buy) should be chosen to minimize the total costs of supply chain. Therefore, two separate models are generated for each strategy and several examples are solved for the respective models. Computational experiments show the efficiency of the proposed models for making decision about selecting the best strategy.

Abstract:

Supply chain management (SCM) has recently received considerable attention in business management literature. Many companies consider a well-designed SCM and implement it to their systems to increase the performance of production systems. Supplier selection is a fundamental aspect of SCM, which heavily contributes to the overall supply chain performance. SCM is a complicated decision-making problem including both quantitative and qualitative factors. In this paper, we try to determine criteria, indicated by experts for selection of suitable suppliers. The proposed study obtains weight of each criterion by Fuzzy Linear Goal Programming (FLGP) technique. We rank the suppliers by Fuzzy Quality Function Deployment (FQFD) method. The study is executed for a PETROCHEMICAL Co. to evaluate and select the best suppliers.

Abstract:

This paper presents a supply chain management by considering efficiency in the system. The proposed study considers two objective functions where the first one maximizes the efficiency of the supply chain and the second one minimizes the cost of facility layout as well as production of different products. In order to measure the relative efficiency, the study uses the method developed by Klimberg and Ratick (2008) [Klimberg, R. K., & Ratick, S. J. (2008). Modeling data envelopment analysis (DEA) efficient location/allocation decisions. Computers & Operations Research, 35(2), 457-474.]. The study has been formulated as a mixed integer programming and the implementation of the proposed model has been demonstrated using some numerical example. The preliminary results indicate that it was possible to increase the efficiency of supply chain without increase the supply chain expenses.

Abstract:

Supplier selection is one of the most important decisions made in supply chain management. Supplier evaluation problem has been in the center of supply chain researcher’s attention in these years. Managers regard some of these studies and methods inappropriate due to simple, weight scoring methods that generally are based on subjective opinions and judgments of decision maker units involved in the supplier evaluation process yielding imprecise and even unreliable results. This paper seeks to propose a methodology to integrate data envelopment analysis (DEA) and group analytical hierarchy process (GAHP) for evaluating and selecting the most efficient supplier. We develop a methodology, which consists of 6 steps, one by one has been introduced in lecture and finally applicability of proposed method is indicated by assessing 12 suppliers in a numerical example.

Abstract:

Supplier selection, inventory management and optimal lot sizing has been one of the most important issues in many industries especially in production planning issues associated with texture industry. The proposed model of this paper first introduces an algorithm to choose the best supplier and it determines the optimal lot size using discount strategy. The proposed model of this paper considers different influencing factors such as location, quality of materials, cost, and mutual trust for supplier selection, determines their relative importance weights and then a discounting method is used to determine the ordering lot-size. The preliminary results indicate that the proposed model of this paper can be implemented in texture industry, very efficiently since the ordering discount policy is not sensitive to changes on inventory holding and setup expenditures.

Abstract:

Supplier evaluation and selection has been a vital issue of strategic importance for long time. Different multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) approaches have been proposed by the researchers in past, to solve the supplier evaluation and selection problem. In this paper, we present a review of various MCDM methodologies reported in the literature for solving the supplier evaluation and selection process. The review is solely based on sixty-eight research articles, including eight review articles in the academic literature from 2000 to 2011. We try to find out the most prevalent approach in the articles and thereby present the future scope of arriving at an optimal solution to the problem, based on the specifications, the strategies and the requirements of the buyers. The study presents that with the change in processes and the requirements, how the approach of the manufacturing industry has shifted from striving for operational effectiveness to the strategic partnership in the dyadic relationship.
