Nowadays, development and sustainability are often combined in the analysis of regional and local processes. In this case, the definition of both competitiveness and sustainability of development require adequate interpretation and quantitative assessment. Territorial marketing is used as a tool to assess the competitiveness of a region. The main purpose of our research is to analyze the methodological and practical aspects of the sustainable development strategy of competitiveness of the Kazakhstan regions and the ways to implement it based on territorial marketing. Among the crucial indicators of territorial marketing, which this article tackles, supply chain management draws particular interest. Each indicator includes a set of criteria that best describe it. This is a 10-point rating system, where the region that showed the best result gets 10 points. It is assumed that based on the generally accepted methods the overall competitiveness can be measured, considering the competitiveness of the 5 mentioned indicators, as well as their assessment with regard to the competitiveness of their criteria. The research results showed that the aggregate indicator for all the regions is below average. The findings show that the Turkestan and Pavlodar regions are the most competitive in supply chain management, having the largest number of shipments. The overwhelming majority of Kazakhstan enterprises are small enterprises, which suggests that the logistics services market is still developing. The use of modern information technologies will optimize warehouse operations. A positive result is ensured by effective local regulation since doing business in Kazakhstan is relatively cheap. In our research, we offer some recommendations for improving the territorial indicators that determine the competitiveness of regions.

This paper aims at examining the effect of the Value Added by Intellectual Capital (VAIC) in terms of its three components: capital employed efficiency, human capital efficiency, and structure capital efficiency on the financial performance of commercial banks listed on the Amman Stock Exchange for the period 2010–2018.Value Added of Intellectual Capital (VAIC) model was used to measure the intellectual capital while Tobin’s Q ratio was used as an indicator of bank financial performance. The study has used parametric techniques like multiple linear regression and correlation coefficient, and other statistical methods to investigate its hypothesis. It was found that only human capital efficiency and capital employed efficiency had impacts on the banks’ financial performance. These results emphasize the importance of using the VAIC model to evaluate the financial performance of these banks, as well as encourage banks to make further investments in intellectual capital’s components, and concentrate on human resources to build up their knowledge, skills and capabilities, because of their greatest role in value creation.

This study aims to examine the role of human capital, which is part of intellectual capital, as a mediator in the relationship between audit committee expertise and the number of audit committee meetings with real earnings management. This research is a quantitative study. The data source used is data from manufacturing companies in Indonesia. The sample selection technique used purposive sampling. The analysis technique uses path analysis. The results showed that the expertise of the audit committee had a significant effect on human capital, while the number of audit meetings had no effect on human capital. The results of this study also state that audit committee expertise, number of audit committee meetings and human capital performance have no effect on real earnings management actions. Furthermore, there is empirical evidence that shows that human capital has a mediating effect on the relationship between audit committee expertise and the number of audit committee meetings with real earnings management. The role of human capital in the relationship between the expertise of the audit committee and the number of audit committee meetings becomes originality, so it is the main contribution of research. The limitation of this research is that it only uses human capital as a mediating variable.

The purpose of this paper is to measure the effects of intellectual capital components; namely, human capital, structural capital and relational capital on company performance in Iranian auto industry. The study uses a questionnaire consists of 100 questions to cover intellectual capital and company performance in Likert scale and it is distributed among 180 experts in one of Iranian auto industry. Cronbach alphas for intellectual capital components, i.e. human capital, relational capital and structural capital are 0.82, 0.80 and 0.80, respectively. In addition, Cronbach alpha for company performance is 0.82. Using structural equation modeling, the study has determined a positive and meaningful relationship between intellectual capital and company performance. The study has also determined a positive and meaningful relationship between human capital and structural capital. Among components of performance, efficiency maintained the highest effect while innovation represents the minimum effect.

The paper aims to examine the impact of human capital, capital structure choice and firm profitability of 48,673 Vietnamese construction firms in 2016. Measuring firm profitability by return on assets (ROA) or return on equity (ROE), the results demonstrated that using more debt in capital structure would positively increase the performance of the firm but this positive effect was increasingly declining. Moreover, evidence showed that human capital had a positive impact on the result of business activities. A larger size of a firm could positively boost firm performance. Regarding firm location, a firm locating in the metropolitan of Ho Chi Minh City had a higher level of performance than a firm locating in the metropolitan of Hanoi capital. Finally, operating status of the firm as well as the establishment of industrial park had insignificant impacts on firm profitability.

This paper presents an empirical study to determine the effects of four different factors including human capital, innovation capital, communication capital and information technology (IT) capital on firms’ return. The study selects the information of 50 selected firms from Tehran Stock Exchange over the period 2007-2013. Using regression analysis, the study has determined that there were some positive and meaning relationships between human capital, innovation capital, communication capital and information technology capital and firms’ return, however, each of these four factors had various effect. Other results indicate that IT capital had the greatest impact on future returns of companies and among intellectual capital components, communication capital had the highest impact on future earnings.

This paper investigates different components on intellectual capital including human capital, structural capital and customer capital in banking industry in city of Salmas, Iran. The study uses the questionnaire developed by Bontis (1998) [Bontis, N. (1998). Intellectual capital: an exploratory study that develops measures and models. Management Decision, 36(2), 63-76.] to measure the effects of human capital. The questionnaire consists of 42 questions and all of them are designed in Likert scale. Cronbach alphas for human capital, structural capital and relationship capital were calculated as 0.79, 0.76 and 0.72, respectively. The implementation of Kolmogorov-Smirnov test has indicated that the data were normally distributed. Using t-student test, the study determined that while management team did not pay enough attention on human capital, there were some statistically significant evidence that social and relationship capitals gained good attention.

Intellectual capital plays essential role in corporate performance and this paper examines the impact of intellectual capital and its components on the ratio of corporate operating profit on sales as an indicator of economic performance. The study was accomplished among 1035 companies listed on Tehran Stock Exchange and by using the Pulic-2004 model over the period 2005-2012. The results indicate that intellectual value added coefficient, as an indicator of intellectual capital efficiency, preserves a positive effect on sales and efficiency of structural capital and capital employed maintains a positive and meaningful effects on different financial ratios.

Human resources play essential role on the success of many organizations and it is essential to learn more about the effects of human capital on the success of business units. This paper presents an empirical investigation to study the relationship between equity and intellectual capital among stocks listed on Tehran Stock Exchange over the period 2001-2007. Using Pearson correlation test, the study selects a sample of 77 firms and investigates the relationship between equity and three components of intellectual capital, namely; human capital, structural capital and customer capital. The study has detected a positive and meaningful relationship between equity and all components of the survey (? = 5%).

This paper presents an empirical investigation to study the status of intellectual capital at Islamic Azad Univeristy, Qods branch. The survey uses the questionnaire developed by Roos and Roos (1997) [Roos, G., & Roos, J. (1997). Measuring your company & apos; s intellectual performance. Long range planning, 30(3), 413-426.]. The results have detected that human capital, structural capital and physical capital are within desirable level although physical capital plays the most important role followed by structural capital and human capital. The survey did not find any evidence to believe that participants’ personal characteristics had any impact on our survey. Finally, the study has detected positive relationship among three components of the survey. In terms of physical capital, our participants believed that university officials must increase the speed of internet.
